During our visit to Point Reyes National Seashore in late August 2013, we drove out to Limantour Beach on Drakes Bay late in the afternoon. We were hoping that the fog would lift enough for us to make the four mile round-trip hike on Limantour Spit Trail. While the weather did change, it was only to bring wind and rain as well as the fog. In spite of the conditions, we did get to spend some time on a beautiful beach. The parking area is about a twenty-five minute drive on paved roads from the Bear Valley Visitor Center. The walk from the parking area to the beach is about one-fifth of a mile.
