Cadillac Mountain - Acadia National Park

Our mid-October 2013 visit to Acadia National Park included a drive to the top of Cadillac Mountain.  Along the way, we stopped at the Blue Hill Overlook.  At an elevation of 1530 feet, Cadillac Mountain is the highest point along the U.S. Atlantic seaboard.

Atop the mountain is a small bookstore and several trailheads.  We walked around the ½ mile Summit Path loop.  This is a paved trail provides some spectacular views, but only a small portion is wheelchair-accessible due to the stairs required to follow the terrain.

An entrance fee of $20 per vehicle is collected at Acadia National Park.  The vehicle pass is valid for seven consecutive days.  Another option is to purchase the America the Beautiful - National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass valid for one year for $80.  A lifetime Senior Pass is available for $10 for those 62 years of age or older.
