Our July 2014 visit to St. Louis continued with a visit to the zoo. The Saint Louis Zoo was established in 1910 as an outgrowth of the 1904 World's Fair. It is consistently rated as one of the top five zoos in the United States. Marlin Perkins was one of the former directors of the zoo. The zoo is located on 93 acres in Forest Park and houses more than 700 species of animals and almost 18,000 total animals.

Admission to the zoo is free. Parking is $15 per vehicle in either the North or South lots. Parking is reduced to $10 during the off-season.
