Joshua Tree National Park - Park Boulevard

We continued our February 2015 visit to Joshua Tree National Park by driving 25 miles on Park Boulevard from the West Entrance Station to the North Entrance Station. To mark the picture locations, I arbitrarily chose to start with milepost 0.0 being the West Entrance Station.

Looking north toward an unnamed 4500 foot peak - MP 3.4

Looking south toward Quail Mountain - MP 3.4

Roadside volcanic extrusion on the southwest side of the road - MP 3.4

Eroded intrusions northeast of the road - MP 3.5

Looking south across the wash at a 5088' unnamed peak - MP 4.9
(two subpeaks on the left are both over 4960')

420 foot high outcrop on northeast side of road - MP 4.9

Looking west 35 miles at snow-covered 11,502' San Gorgonio Mountain - MP 4.9

Looking north-northwest across the Joshua Tree forest - MP 4.9

Rock outcrops near Hidden Valley - MP 9.0

Looking southeast at 5457' Ryan Mountain - MP 9.0

We also drove the 5.5 mile Keys View Road. The following pictures were taken at a pullout 3.2 miles from the junction with Park Boulevard.

An entrance fee of $15 admits all the passengers of a single vehicle for seven days. Other options include an annual Joshua Tree National Park Pass for $30, an Interagency Annual Pass for $80 and a lifetime Interagency Senior Pass for those age 62 and older for $10.
