Upper Yosemite Fall from Yosemite Valley Lodge - Yosemite National Park

During our March 2018 visit to Yosemite National Park, we stayed at the Yosemite Valley Lodge. After checking in, we drove to our assigned building and parked. From the parking lot, we had a splendid view of Upper Yosemite Fall. Turning around, we had a wonderful view of Sentinel Rock across the valley. I decided to take some early morning waterfall pictures, but didn't realize that the waterfall would be in shade long after sunrise. Below are my morning images of the waterfall.

Sunlight is slow to arrive at the falls

Low creek flow creates a wispy waterfall

Winds blow the waterfall far to the right

Wind blows the falling water onto a ledge before it flows off  to plunge again

A short plunge above the top of Lower Yosemite Fall

Spray freezes on the rock face

Sunlight slowly peaks into the nooks around the waterfall

Falling water casts a shadow on the granite

Ice cone at the base of the waterfall

Entrance to Yosemite National Park requires an entry fee of $30 per passenger vehicle for a 7-day pass. The price increases to $35 per vehicle on June 1, 2018. Any of the America the Beautiful passes may be used instead.
