The Sinks - Great Smoky Mountains National Park

The Sinks is a 10 foot cascade on the Little River in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The river pours over a slanting slab of rock and makes a sharp turn. The Little River Road bridges the river above at this location. A paved parking area for about two dozen vehicles is adjacent to the bridge. The Sinks is located 5.8 miles from Townsend Wye and 11.4 miles from the Sugarlands Visitor Center parking area exit. While beautiful, this is not a recommended location for swimming or other water sports and several people have drowned over the years here. When I visited in early December 2015, the river flow was very high due to recent heavy rains.
