Meigs Falls - Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Driving on the Tennessee side of the park along Little River Road in mid-September 2013, we stopped at a pullout across the river from the mouth of Meigs Creek.  The 25-foot high Meigs Falls is far enough upstream to require binoculars or a camera with a decent zoom to see it clearly.

Meigs Falls is across the Little River

Meigs Creek drains a fairly large area, so there is always water over the falls

There is no official trail to the falls, although we have seen people wade across the river to get a closer view

The higher than normal rainfall for 2013 provided great flows into late summer

The Little River was flowing too fast to consider wading across.

There is no fee to enter the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

The park website is http://www.nps.gov/grsm/index.htm.
