Good weather in early January 2016 was all the invitation we needed to visit one of our favorite places in Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Green fields below Pole Knob and Cobb Ridge
Low clouds brush the mountaintops
Green field and burned field
A new reflector marks a roadside rock
John Oliver place at the edge of the cove
View across the cove to Pole Knob
Another burned field
Wildlife in the field above Tater Branch
Evergreens on the mountain
Looking east up the cove from the Elijah Oliver cabin parking area
Clouds continue to roll into the cove
Periodically burning fields keeps the forest from covering the cove
Entry to Great Smoky Mountains National Park is free.
