Linn Cove Viaduct - Blue Ridge Parkway

The Linn Cove Viaduct is located at mile 304 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The viaduct was built to minimize construction damage and ongoing impact to Grandfather Mountain. The curved concrete bridge is 1,243 feet long and rests on seven piers. Construction of the $10 million bridge started in 1979 and it was opened to traffic on September 11, 1987. Completion of the viaduct also completed the Blue Ridge Parkway after 52 years of road building.
