Roaring Fork - Great Smoky Mountains National Park

The Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is a five-mile one-way one-lane park road southeast of Gatlinburg, Tennessee.  The road is accessed via the upper end of Cherokee Orchard Road.  While Cherokee Orchard road follows LeConte Creek up the mountain, the motor nature trail follows Roaring Fork down the mountain to Gatlinburg.  This is one of the more picturesque areas of the park and includes preserved cabins, hiking trails, mountain vistas and roadside streams.  We visited just after an early evening rainstorm in early May, 2013.

  1. I just found your blog. We love hiking to waterfalls, anywhere with moving water, actually. Good blog.
