We stayed in Flagstaff, Arizona during our May 2015 visit to Oak Creek Canyon, Sunset Crater Volcano National Monumnet, Wupatki National Monumnet, Grand Canyon National Park and Walnut Canyon National Monument. While there, we stopped at the visitor center housed in the train depot built by the Atchison, Topeka and Sante Fe Railroad in 1926. The depot is located on Historic Route 66, formerly Front Street. One block to the east is the 1897 depot built by the Atlantic & Pacific Railroad. Just east of the 1897 depot, a steam locomotive is on display beside Route 66 at Santa Fe Plaza. The locomotive was built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in January, 1911 and was last operated as number 25 by Southwest Lumber Mills, Inc.
