While visiting the Knife River Indian Villages in Stanton, North Dakota, I toured the replica Hidatsa earth lodge just outside the visitor center. The National Park Service built the lodge several years ago to provide visitors with a more visual representation of lodge life than the remains of the villages are able to depict. This particular lodge is 40 feet in diameter, making it average or slightly larger than average size. I visited in August 2017.
