The Rainy Lake Visitor Center is the only visitor center open year-round in Voyageurs National Park. As such, it has a much larger museum and exhibit area than the other two visitor centers. In addition, it has an information desk, patio with picnic tables, theater, bookstore, and restrooms. The excellent 12-minute park orientation movie, Voyageurs National Park, was produced in 2005 and is shown at all three visitor centers. A public boat ramp and dock are also located at the visitor center.
To reach the visitor center from International Falls, drive east on MN-11 for 10.0 miles then turn right onto Park Road. Drive 1.4 miles to the parking area. Paved parking is available for nearly 40 passenger vehicles and 10 recreational vehicles. Boat trailer parking for 18 trailers is available at the public boat ramp. We visited in early August 2017.
