The Painted Desert Vista Picnic Area is on Sunset Crater - Wupatki Loop 9.3 miles from its southern terminus on US 89 outside Flagstaff, Arizona. We stopped for a picnic on our May 2015 visit to the Southwest.

We continued on Sunset Crater - Wupatki Loop another 2.7 miles and descended 500 feet to a roadside pullout with more great views.

There is no entry fee for this portion of the Coconino National Forest.
