Visitor Center - Chiricahua National Monument

While traveling from White Sands National Monument to Saguaro National Park on our May 2015 trip to the American Southwest, we took an afternoon side trip to Chiricahua National Monument. The drive to the monument takes about 45 minutes after taking any of the three exits from Interstate 10 in Wilcox, Arizona. After driving in to town, turn south on Arizona 186 from Haskell Avenue which is also signed as Interstate 10 Business. Drive 31 miles southeast on AZ 186 before turning east on AZ 181. Continue three miles to enter the monument. After passing the abandoned fee collection station, drive another two miles to the visitor center on the right.

The small visitor center houses an information desk, bookstore, exhibit area and theater area. Two bench seats, similar to church pews, are provided to watch the 8 minute video Crossroads & Contrasts narrated by the late Rex Allen, Sr., the Voice of the West. An adjacent building houses restrooms with running water.
