The short, fairly easy walk to the Beaver Pond Overlook begins 1.1 miles south of the Ash River Visitor Center on Mead Wood Road in Voyageurs National Park. A sign marks the distance as 0.15 miles, or 0.30 miles round-trip. A vault toilet is located just off the trail near the trailhead. The wide, gravel trail heads generally westward and climbs about 25 feet. The trail is not ADA-accessible as it has a set of stairs and a section with a cross-slope near the overlook. At the overlook, two log benches have been provided. While we didn't see any wildlife in or around the pond, we did hear several birds. We also saw a variety of flowering and fruiting plants near the trail on our early August 2017 visit.
