Redoubt Mountain Lodge - Lake Clark National Park

Located on five acres of private land in the middle of 2.6 million acres of Lake Clark National Park, Redoubt Mountain Lodge has 16 guest cabins that sleep either 3 or 4 guests each for a maximum of 50 to 60 guests per night. Day trippers add another 30 to 40 guests for lunch. Guests can choose from a variety of adventuers including fishing, bear viewing, kayaking, hiking, photography, water skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, and stand-up paddle boarding. As day trippers, we were fed a gourmet meal in the dining hall. One down-side to being a day tripper is that restrooms with running water are only available to overnight guests in their cabins. The staff and daytrippers have to use one of a couple of two-seat outhouses on the property.

Crescent Lake is definitely off the beaten path. Almost everything at the lodge was flown in from Anchorage on float planes like those operated by Rust's Flying Service. This includes food, linens, tables, chairs, kitchen equipment, lumber for the buildings, electric fence parts, etc.
